Why they brought him in

Build in Tulsa exists to remove barriers for founders who are routinely overlooked, and part of that job is geographic.
"We're here in the middle of the country, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sometimes they don't get access to marquee speakers like Lamar Tyler. So one of the fundamental things that Build in Tulsa does is provide access and opportunity for founders right here in the middle of the country to get this important knowledge and information."
Ashley Sims was solving for a specific, recurring question from the founders she serves.
"What founders are constantly telling me: how can I make more money? How can I increase my revenue? How can I do that when I don't necessarily have all the capital? I want to grow my business."

What he delivered

A working session, not a talk. Lamar delivered the Hidden Revenue Formula with a book and a workbook, built around revenue founders already have and are not capturing.
"The fact that Lamar talked about unlocking hidden revenue that's already in your business. He talked to our entrepreneurs about how they can double their business today by pulling some of these levers is amazing. This is how we help founders who think they have limited resources really increase their impact, really drive revenue."
For an audience whose central constraint is capital, a framework that requires none is the whole proposition.

She left the room to go implement it

Tara Payne, CEO of Mavens' Meet, did not wait for the workshop to finish.
"I actually left so that I could implement some of it and came right back."

"Straight out the gate, value. I was taking notes even whenever he first started talking."
Two levers landed hardest, and she names both.
Proposals. "When he talked about proposals, I actually thought: do I need to be sending a proposal? Can I take that out? Because that's something that's just delaying them from making the sale."

Upsells. "Automatically as he talked about upsells, I was thinking: what can I create that can upsell them? They're here for a reason, how can I keep them here?"
"If you are a person who is ready to take action, and you know that there's some money you've been leaving on the table, then you can go past all that other stuff you see on social media and come directly to this workshop."

The host organization took the notes too

The clearest measure of a training is not how the room felt. It is what changes afterward. At Build in Tulsa, the staff came out of the session with their own action item.
"The one that we're going to pull for sure is referrals. This gave us even more language, tools and structure around elevating our experiences, to make sure that our founders keep coming back for more programming, but also to make sure that they spread the word about what kind of value Build in Tulsa offers."
The organization that hired him is now running one of his levers in its own operation.

In her words

"The work with TSP, Lamar Tyler's speech today, is transformational for our entrepreneurs and small business owners. We were so happy to have them."
